Loved meeting Hayley and her Mom at the Janesville Bridal Show and was very excited to make some photography magic with this killer sunset! Did we luck out or what?!? Matt and Hayley met many moons ago on the Janesville water ski team so goofing around and having fun… yeah they have that down pat. It was way too hard to choose favorites from this session!
I’ve known Latoya my whole darn life… we were cheerleaders together waaaayyy back in the day…eherrrm… I have been lucky enough document lots of important movements of their lives together as well! I took Dave & Latoya’s engagement photos a few years back but was too pregnant to be her wedding photographer. (I did make sure to get a few fun shots as a guest though!) So yeah, I was pretty excited to meet their sweet new baby.
August (my new photography assistant) and I packed up all my camera gear and headed over to meet sweet Uriah for the first of many play dates they will surely have together in the years ahead. Walking into the home of brand new parents and a brand new baby is like walking into a new and magical universe. Honestly, it’s magic… I love soaking up all that sweet, fresh energy of a newly created family. (I love my job…) These two parents were as cool and calm as they get. They moved so naturally around each other and Uriah. So we chatted and laughed. They filled me in on Uriah’s crazy entrance into this world, one thing is for sure, his Momma is strong and powerful! What a lucky boy, indeed!
I got to marvel at their new son for a few hours capturing this very special time that lasts only for a few short days…(Have I mentioned how much I adore my job!)
Oh and I just had to end this newborn story with a photo of Dave cooking up a yummy breakfast for Latoya as I left… Dad’s play such an important role for new Momma’s and Dave seemed to know just what it was… diapers and food!
I can’t thank you both enough for sharing this special time with me & August too!
Fawn & David’s wedding was scheduled on a lovely fall day at Janesville’s Rotary Gardens. Fawn had perfect fall bouquets, the leaves on the trees were changing vibrant colors, everything was ideal for a perfect outdoor fall wedding… and then the rain came… and not just a light drizzle, we are talking a full on down pour! But this slight little hiccup didn’t get in the way for Fawn and David. Fawn’s Mom and her dear friend did a ‘go away’ rain dance, their boys splashed around in the down pour and yet Fawn and David… cool as a cucumber! Nerves of steel for sure! Then again they are parents to three wonderful boys, Zeke, Colton & sweet little Montgomery so they have had plenty of practice rolling with the punches, I’d say.
And wouldn’t you know that we had a clearing of rain for a solid hour and the show went on… mud and all! Little Monty was not a happy camper without his Momma. It was such a sweet moment when Fawn stopped the ceremony and held her little guy and he settled down right away. His little toes hanging out during their exchange of the rings was priceless. In fact, Monty was a part of all major moments of the day including the first dance… and many more dances throughout the night. This group was a blast and I even took a few whirls around the dance floor myself.
A beautiful day with a beautiful family!
I was pretty
excited nervous when Meghan and Ryan wanted to do some studio portraits of their family. I’m not one for overly posed placements so getting everyone relaxed and having fun in my small studio was going to take some thought. Then BAM, it hit me… add the blue flower beast of a couch we have for client meetings… yes, it was a stroke of brilliance if I do say so myself. After some chill time in studio we had just few moments to take a couple of photo’s near this sweet patch of red sumac I’d been eyeing up before the rain came in. Even with the cold those colors made for a perfect fall backdrop.
The girls were so full of energy, Alice sure knows how to dish out some sisterly love! Thanks for rolling with my ideas ya’ll.
Justine contacted me for some fun photo’s of her amazing kids Connor and Cay-Cay. Boy did we have a blast, I love it when kids come with their game faces on, ready for action. Connor has these amazing dimples and, my gosh, Cay’s missing two front teeth were just too sweet! I had so much fun with them, they laughed and giggled and did all the crazy stuff I asked of them…
I met with Wendy and Ryan last spring when they told me their wedding day plan and I was swept away. The two of them planned to head up north with their pup and an officiant, hike some beautiful trails in their wedding day finest with a few passing hikers to witness as they married… now, if that isn’t romantic, I don’t know what is!
They planned a wonderful reception to celebrate with friends and family this fall and invited me to come too. I loved the flowers, the food, the yard games and the band! Everything was simple and easy just as they envisioned many months before. They camped near by… and ended the night with a cozy bonfire under an orange harvest moon.
Everything about Stephanie and Aaron’s wedding is the stuff us photographers dream about. Perfect summer weather, beautiful locations, relaxed wedding party and lots and lots of time for photos… I’ve said it before but it’s worth repeating, I love my clients!
Stephanie found The Apple Tree Lane Bed & Breakfast doing an online search and holy smokes was it beautiful. The ceremony location is breath taking and made Stephanie and Aaron’s wedding simply magical. I really, really hope I get the chance to come back again someday soon. Talk about photography gold! But, more than that, this was an amazing group of people and I was honored to be welcomed among them to tell their story.
Stephanie choose Abundance Acres from Madison to put their flowers together. Of course they were nothing short of perfection.
Stephanie, you are a my kindred spirt! And you will always hold a special place in my heart, you are amazing and strong and kind… and I’m sorta sad that your wedding is over. Good news is we live in the same town!
Monique… you are a doll!
Jennifer met me with her Grandmother last year at the bridal show in Janesville and we just clicked right away, I love it when that happens. She wanted lots of candid photos of her day, lots of fun emotion oh and lots of time for beautiful portraits! Ummm, yes please…
It was a super hot day at beautiful Koshkonong Country Club but this wedding party came all set to have fun and Jen outfitted everyone in some super stylin shades straight out of 1988. Michael also wanted to use his Dad’s car for some pics which turned out to be my favorite, of course, I’m a sucker for vintage cars. These two were so natural in front of the camera and made it so hard for me to choose favorites.
On to the good stuff!
Betsy and I both grew up in Cottage Grove and our paths crossed again last week when she her husband, Jared and their three children came to Stoughton for a family lifestyle portrait session. Betsy won this session in a silent auction helping a mutual friend as she is helping her sweet little girl fight off cancer. We are all rooting for little Victoria Walhovd in her recovery and praying for their family to have some much-needed peace in their life once again. Both Betsy and and I have three children of our own, and I’m pretty sure we both can agree that Victoria’s parents Brian & Melissa are about the strongest people we know.
I was so glad to help and I got to meet some really great people on a beautiful fall day… so gee, a win-win for me!
Betsy let me take the lead on choosing a location and I have been wanting to do some family photos in this park for a while, so thanks so much for being so agreeable. I had a blast, and I hope you did too!
Here are a few of my favorites from our session. Enjoy!
